About Artium

Artium was founded and is directed by Professor Sara Uckelman at Durham University. With more than two decades of research experience across the fields of philosophy, medieval studies, literature, and computer science in the US, the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands, she knows first-hand the impact small-scale financial support can have on the success of collaborative research projects, and how important it is that the next generation of scholars are provided with paid opportunities to develop their research skills.

For Donors

During the pilot phase, your donation will go to a central fund, which will be used to fund the Projects. When your money has contributed to the funding of a Project, you will be informed of the details of the Project and, if you wish, receive regular updates on the progress of the research conducted in this project. When the platform fully launches, you will be able to designate preferences for the disciplines and locations of Projects that you wish to fund, thus allowing you to focus your donation where it is most meaningful to you while ensuring that all Projects have equal opportunity to be funded.

As a project run under the auspices of Durham University, we adhere to the University’s gift acceptance policy.
